MADE SAFE is incredibly proud to announce our newest and biggest brand yet: Seventh Generation. This is a project very near and dear to my heart, which you can read more about here. We have been hard at work partnering with Seventh Generation to help bring these products to life for about a year.
When I started MADE SAFE I wanted to help bring about change to the everyday products that we use and to the things we all invite into our homes. We either use these items daily or they are part of our rituals, but we hardly ever think about the impact they may have on our health or on the environment. I wanted to unveil the mystery surrounding these things and reveal the truth that, in fact, there is no single overarching agency harmonizing a sensible, precautionary approach to chemical use in the United States today.
What do we love about NUELE? A lot! The idea behind the company, founded by Dr. Christine Martey-Ochola and Anne Cheatham, was to make a hair product that nourished hair, was safe to use, could help women wear different hairstyles depending on the look they wanted each day, and supported local farmers and small economies through its production. That’s all pretty easy to get behind, right?
For The Biome is the invention of Paul and Barbi Schulick. Built on their belief that the world and its inhabitants are deeply and inextricably connected, they founded a company that focuses on the interconnection of life. Both Paul and Barbi are experienced meditation teachers so their website offers free meditations that you can get delivered to your inbox on a weekly basis, which is one way they are addressing mental health and stress.
Toluene is a petrochemical or lab-produced solvent used in air fresheners, sex toys, and in personal care products like nail polish, nail treatments, and hair dyes. Toluene is also found in ambient air in salons from the use of hair and nail treatments, and in homes, workplaces, and cars as a result of air freshener use. Toluene is also an environmental pollutant. (more…)
We are bombarded by air fresheners seemingly every day – in the workplace, businesses, public restrooms, schools, homes of friends and family, and even taxis and car services. On store shelves you’ll find them in numerous forms: electric, automatic misting sprays, gels, beads, plug-ins, heated oils, sprays and more.
As the cold of winter slowly creeps into the air, we find joy in the search for ways to add warmth to shorter days. Warmth in family and friends joining our homes, and warmth in seasonal products which heighten our senses.
